Using 6″x6″ burned wood blocks as a canvas\, participants will experiment with different hair-like textures and materials to modify and adhere to their surfaces\, creating unique pieces that tell their own “hair story.” Whether through the use of fibers\, wires\, fabric\, or natural elements\, each participant will craft a tactile\, visual representation of their personal connection to hair\, identity\, and self-expression. Focusing on his unique creative process\, Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers explores the artist’s years in the south of France\, where he revolutionized his style. \nAbout the Film\n200 years after its opening and a century after acquiring its first Van Gogh works\, the National Gallery is hosting the UK’s biggest ever Van Gogh exhibition. Van Gogh is not only one of the most beloved artists of all time\, but perhaps the most misunderstood. \nThis film is a chance to reexamine and better understand this iconic artist. Focusing on his unique creative process\, Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers explores the artist’s years in the south of France\, where he revolutionised his style. Van Gogh became consumed with a passion for storytelling in his art\, turning the world around him into vibrant\, idealised spaces and symbolic characters. Join the museum for artmaking in our studios\, as well as local resources for sensory inclusive spaces and partners. \nClass Descriptions:  \nSimmer Pot Kit – Focusing on our sense of smell\, participants are invited to make their own simmer pot satchels to be enjoyed once they return home. Participants will be encouraged to discuss how certain scents make them feel and why. \nWinter Sensory Bag – Sense of touch and visual elements are the primary inspirations for this class. Winter-themed trinkets\, such as crystal snowflakes\, multicolored pom-poms\, and mini pinecones will be added to gel-filled bags. DESCRIPTION:About Art Crawl\nCost: Free*Age Range: Infants up to 18 months with their caregivers\nThe MMFA is excited for the addition of the infant-focused art program\, Art Crawl. Partnering with the Clyfford Still Museum\, where the program originated\, Art Crawl is an uplifting opportunity for infants to have a meaningful formative experience with art and their caregiver. Both parents and caregivers will be a part of this journey and learn with their children. \nArt Crawl features an array of themes for each class\, ranging from color theory\, to shapes and texture. \nWeek 2: Little Landscapes\nRegistration is Open!\n*Art Crawl is a Free Program thanks to support from the Art Bridges Access for All grant. \nDue to the age range of participants\, pre-registration is required. To register\, please email Ashley Redic at aredic@mmfa.org or call her office line at 334-625-4359.  \nCost\nThis class falls under the MMFA’s Access for All grant\, providing free classes to all.
